About Us

Skills for the Fourth Industrial Revolution

Tlou Foundation is a non-profit organisation founded on the principle of assisting South Africa to battle the plight of skills shortage and mismatches in all sectors of South Africa. The Foundation's Board of Directors are Previously Disadvantaged Individuals, signifying Tlou Foundation's heart to invest and contribute towards skills development in support of government's initiatives for empowering the unemployed and employed through skills development programmes focused on economic development, in line with the National Skills Development Strategy III (NSDS III).

South Africa's geopolitical situation limits the exploits of the bold strategy that some international organisations deploy. Due to South Africa's status quo, organisations face stiffer competition and the workforce is not keeping up with the skills demands to remain competitive in an increasingly knowledge-based global economy. It's important to acknowledge that traditional ways of driving, managing and leading organisations can no longer cope, and are being replaced with agile and flexible practices.

The success of the programme will rest on the difference Tlou Foundation can make as an institution to the youth of South Africa — by imparting much sought-after knowledge, providing skills to the ever-evolving ICT sector, and most importantly providing opportunity to those who would have thought that they matter, both in rural areas and townships.
